A coloring. Turning into using PS CS2.
01. Start out with your base. Crop it, sharpen it and all that jazz. 02. Duplicate your base and set it to Screen, opacity 50-100% (depends on the brightness of your base, choose what looks best to you). 03. Create a new layer, fill it with #b7b6df, and set it to Color Burn, opacity 100%. 04. Create a new layer, fill it with #d8aeee, and set it to Soft Light, opacity 100%. 05. Create a new layer, fill it with #222232, and set it to Exclusion, opacity 100%. 06. Duplicate your base, drag it to the top and set it to Soft Light, opacity 100%.
And that's all. Other examples:

Tutorial!! A very simple and short one, including Selective Color. From to using PS CS2 (NOT translatable)
01. Start with your base. I used a screencap from the movie 'The Da Vinci Code'. If your base is a little to dark, duplicate it and set it to Screen, opacity 100%. 02. Create a new layer, filled with #070732, and set it to Exclusion, opacity 100%. 03. Create a Selective Color-layer, using this settings:
Reds Cyan: -100 Magenta: +10 Yellow: +50 Black: +5
Cyans Cyan: +50 Magenta: -50
Blacks Cyan: +50 Magenta: -10 Yellow: -10 Black +10
And that's it! I cut the icon in pieces and pasted them on a white background. As a font, I used Times New Roman, size 10, in CAPS. Other examples:

Tell me what you think of them! Btw, it's OK if you take some, but please tell me if you do =) <3 Roos

Made a new tutorial, since someone threw a basketball in my face, and I need some distraction from a terrible headache..=( This one will work really well for screencaps: Turning into using PS CS2.
01. Start with your base. I used a screencap from the movie ‘Secret Window’. For this tutorial it’s very important to have a light base, so duplicate it at least once and set it to Screen, opacity 100%. 02. Create a new layer, filled with #120933, and set it to Exclusion, opacity 100%. 03. Create a new layer, filled with #f0bc9d, and set it to Multiply, opacity 100%. 04. Duplicate your base, drag it to the top, and set it to Soft Light, opacity 100%. 05. Now your done! If you think your icon is to dark, duplicate one of your Screen-layers.
That’s it! Some other examples:

My second tutorial: Turning into
01. Start out with your base. I always sharpen my base, but that is optional, of course. 02. Duplicate your base and set it to Soft Light, opacity 100% 03. Create a new layer filled with #fca6a6, and set it to Color Burn, opacity 100% 04. Create a new layer filled with # 000a2e, and set it to Exclusion, opacity 100% 05. Duplicate your base, drag it to the top and set it to Soft Light, opacity 100%
Done! If your icon turns out too pink, try a lighter color pink. Some other examples:

Turning into

Create a new layer filled with #e5af75, and set it to multiply, opacity 50% 04. Create a new layer filled with #191849, and set it to exclusion, opacity 100% 05. Duplicate your base, drag it to the top and set it to Soft Light, opacity 100%
And that’s it. Of course, not every image is the same, so feel free to play a little with the settings. Here are some other examples:
